Train-the-Trainer

The program seeks to teach participants how some individuals are affected by age-related memory challenges, Early Stage Alzheimer’s disease or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) may be helped to slow cognitive decline and how others may be helped to improve cognitive and memory skills. Participants are taught the skills necessary to conduct orientations for other Caregivers and healthcare professionals on the use of the Serper Method™ workbook. Training materials are provided. Training sessions are limited to 4 participants.

Program Contents:

  • Seminars. Emphasis is placed on discovering how a regular regimen of Serper Method™ short mental exercises stimulates cognition; the most effective methods for stimulating cognition in individual cognitive education sessions; the development and current state of brain research; results from the BEST study; and teaching techniques for the Serper Method™ workbook program and the Serper Method™ Small Group Study Program for the Memory Impaired. Also included: a review of the Serper Method™ Caregiver Assessment and the Cognitive Research Study program.
  • Observation of Cognitive Education Session Participants observe a DVD of a cognitive education session with a person affected by memory impairment. Session includes analysis and evaluation of Serper Method™ teaching techniques.
  • Conducting and Auditing of Cognitive Education Sessions. Participants conduct a cognitive education session with a person affected by memory impairment supervised by BES. Sessions are observed by other participants and a review is conducted on each education session.
